Isaiah 41:10
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
Is it hard for you to ask for help? Do you push everything down and hope it gets better? Are you overwhelmed with all that needs to be done? Asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign that you know when you are heading into rough waters and need support. It is a sign that you know how to support yourself emotionally. It is a sign that you know how to keep balance, so you don’t hit rock bottom.
You are not alone. You are not meant to do it all on your own. You have the Holy Spirit, within you, to guide and support you. You friends and family to lend a hand. Asking for help doesn’t mean you aren’t capable. Sometimes it seems easier to just do it all on your own. You keep taking on more until you reach exhaustion. This is not how God wants you to live your life. He doesn’t want you frazzled and burnt out. When you get to that state life begins to seem dull and you question the purpose of it all.
This is exactly where the enemy wants you. He works hard to isolate you. He wants you to take everything on by yourself. He banks on you being too afraid or too proud to ask for help. If he can get you to believe the lie that asking for help from others burdens them, he can get you to overextend yourself and commit to doing all on your own. He wants you exhausted emotionally and physically so you forget who you are, Gods child. He wants you to forget God is always present. The enemy wants you to truly believe you are alone, forgotten by God and not cared about by others.
Asking for help can simply be a call to a counselor to talk somethings out. It could be saying no to doing one more thing this week and giving yourself some rest. It could be asking your boss to help you prioritize your workload. You are not meant to take all of it on by yourself.
Draw near to God. He is extending a hand to assist you in all that weighs you down. Ask God to guide you, to help you understand what areas you need support in and who you can turn to for that support. When you feel you are alone, pray to God that He shows you His army of support.
Prayer
Father God,
Thank you for always being present. Thank you for guiding me, helping me, and showing me I am not alone. Forgive me for the times I turn away and do everything by myself. Forgive me for the times I complain and question. You are patient. You are loving. May I grow closer to You daily. May I remember to turn to You for support. When I am lost for words or simply don't know how to ask for help, may I turn to You and say "Here I am."
