Belong

Song: I Belong To You

Here Be Lions

Romans 12:5

5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Do you have a desire to belong? You want to belong to a community, a group, to a person. Not in a way of ownership, but in a way that you are understood, you are seen. You want to share common likes, memories, wishes and you want to connect on a higher level. You want to feel you are part of an inner circle and not floating on the edge of one.

Where do you belong? How do you find your people, your community, your safe spot? Essentially how do you find your home?

The enemy wants to keep you a drift. He doesn’t want you to find that safe spot. He definitely doesn’t want you to figure out how to get there. The enemy wants to keep you disconnected, afraid of being alone, and believing you missed out. He is the ultimate destroyer of peace. Every chance he can get he is going to shake your stability so you focus on what is wrong and not how far you have come. He does this to keep you from finding your people, your person and becoming your best.

You will always belong to Christ. You will always be part of a whole. You may not recognize it right now. You may be distracted and pulled in many directions. But you are never alone. You are part of the body of Christ, His people. The Father is calling you to move forward. He wants you to to find that belonging spot, your home. He knows it starts with finding peace within you and being comfortable with who you are and where you are at. To understand where you belong you must belong to yourself first. Rest in your discomfort. Find hope in your questioning. You are figuring things out. You are learning to love yourself as you are. You are becoming your own best friend. You are figuring out what you want and how to let go of what you thought you wanted. As you do you will recognize you have always belonged.

Prayer

Father God,

Thank you for calling me to move forward. Thank you for helping to find my place of belonging. Forgive me for moments of distraction. Forgive me for questioning. Guide me toward the center of my belonging. I belong with You. I belong with me. All else will fall into place beyond that point.

Amen
