New Ground

New Wine (6/9/18)

Ezekiel 36:9

For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you will be cultivated and sown.

When God is breaking new ground and bringing something new out of you it is uncomfortable. You may not understand what is going on. In these times you need to continually choose God. You need to choose yourself. What does that really mean? Choosing yourself means you will endure the hard moment to get to the other side. You will trust God with your present and future. You will entrust Him with your past. In those hard moments you feel exposed. You get caught up in the number of choices in front of you. But the reality is there is only one choice, choose God! In choosing God you choose you.

The enemy would have you believe that you should never be uncomfortable. You should always have what you want and get it with ease. He doesn’t want you to see God’s power behind breaking new ground in you. If you hold on and stick to God’s plan, you will get through the discomfort and see all the beauty that is in-store. The enemy does not want you to get a glimpse of anything good. The enemy knows that when you constantly and consistently choose God in all the mess, and you leave your future in His hands, the Spirit becomes a force in your life. The enemy desperately tries to knock you down, take you out of the game, before you see the Spirit move. He knows there is a time of pause and silence that occurs just before you begin to see the true triumph of God. This is when the enemy does his dirtiest work. This is when he is relentless in his attacks. He fears you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. He fears the shift. The shift is when you finally get it. It is when your relationship with Christ is more important than anything else. It occurs, in you, when you fully commit to be all in. In the midst of all the discomfort, while God is breaking new ground in you, there is a moment of surrender. The center of who you are fully becomes all about Christ and not focused on your problems. You embrace your situation, accept it, and find gratitude for it. In doing so you not only overcome, but you render the enemy powerless.

Something new is coming. Something new and beautiful beyond your comprehension. When you allow God’s plan to unfold, not matter how uncomfortable you get, and keep relentless faith in Him, the depth of your relationship with Christ grows. You carry Him, allow Him to shine and you expect the unexpected to happen. What you once thought was impossible is now always possible with God. The shift occurs when you fully commit to being all in.

Choose God. Seek His face. Share your pain and hurt with Him. Be grateful. Be in the moment. Leave your future in God’s business. Breathe. Your shift is coming!

Prayer

Father God,

Thank you for the beautiful and consistent work You do in me. Thank you for bringing me to a new depth in our relationship. Forgive me for getting anxious during the times of silence and the in-between. Forgive me for the times I relentlessly question You instead of pursuing You. Gently remind me today that you are always present and the only choice I need to make is to choose You! When I drift off and start to worry, try to fix things, or get in Your business help me to reset. Help me to turn my focus to all that is right and let You do the work. There is nothing to fear, nothing to worry about because Your plan is the perfect plan. Draw me to you when I begin to doubt. Help me to seek Your presence. In Your presence all is well. It is in Your presence that the shift occurs.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen

I have read and prayed this a dozen times over the past week. It is helping to keep me focused on God's will for my "new normal".
