What You Say

Isaiah 33:2

LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.

Do you assume the worst? When something happens do you assume you can’t handle it? Do you assume another person is being intentionally mean? Do you get wrapped up in assumptions that stall you and prevent you from tapping into you best? You immediately guard yourself. Assume you can’t handle it. You assume this situation will take you completely out. But the reality is you have survived so much. You have moved forward in difficult times. You have survived on sheer will, scraping the bottom of the barrel and clawing your way up. You can survive anything with God as your partner.

God is constantly showing you that you will not fail. That you have what it takes to get up and move on. You may plunge into depths of despair, but you always rise. Expect to rise. Expect success. See the downtime as a part of your growth. You are being stretched. Yes, it isn’t fun. Yes, it is trying. But you will get through it. Yes, you don’t always do it with the most grace, but that is ok. You won’t be perfect. Give yourself space and kindness.

When you do make it through, that rough moment, focus on what you did well. Reinforce the good moments you handled blindly. Look back and see how God was there and loved you enough to let you figure it out, so you could move forward. He believes in you. He sees your strength and knows what you can handle. He will never give you too much. It may feel like He is breaking you, but He is pushing you to stretch you. He wants you to see your own strength. He is pushing you past that point of no return. That point of doubt, negative thinking, giving up, I cant’s, I’m not enough, this is too hard, nobody loves me, what will people think, I don’t know how… He is pushing you so you can understand you are enough. You are magnificent. You are strong.

It takes time and repetition to learn you’ve got this and that you are more than you think. There will be a time when you cross that point and get it. Maybe not all of it at once, but one click at a time. With each aha and each lesson you move forward, you grow. Focus on the growth. Focus on how far you have come and not what there is still to do.

The enemy wants to stall you. He wants to keep you focused on all that went wrong and how much there is to still work on. He wants you to believe you can’t be happy until you have fixed everything. The enemy keeps you in the past and scrutinizing how you could have and should have done things better. He doesn’t want you to see your strength or focus on what you did well. He certainly doesn’t want you to see you as God sees you. The enemy is not on your side. You need to fight any thoughts that don’t support who God says you are.

God is on your side. You are worthy of happiness. See yourself as God sees you. Be thankful. When you don’t know what to do, do nothing. Sit in silence and rest in God’s presence. He brings healing. He guides you through the storm. He calms you. Do not assume, turn to God. Don’t let the enemy get the best of you.

Continue forward. Continue in fear. Continue not knowing what you are doing. Continue even when you don’t know where God is and you simply must rely on sheer will. Always continue forward.

Prayer

Father God,

Thank You for pushing me forward. Thank You for believing in me when I fail to believe in myself. Forgive me for the times I get wrapped up in the past. Forgive me for not focusing on the good and for giving time an energy to what is negative. You give me the strength to move forward. May I focus on all that goes well and not knit pick things that go wrong. May I see opportunities for growth and not opportunities to beat myself up. You are on my side. May I always continue forward with You and not allow the enemy to stall me.

In Jesus name,

Amen
