Dragging

Matthew 6:31

Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest

Do you feel like you must drag yourself through life. Do you feel little or no ambition. You are just trying to make it to the weekend or just to the end of day. You may get momentum to do something but lose it fast. Things overwhelm you easily. Some days are good and some not so good.

Maybe you’re not doing what your soul is calling you to do. You may not be able to make a big change, but you can try to start making little changes. Maybe you are missing out on moments to connect with the beauty of life. Try pouring more into what you enjoy and what reminds you of all that is good.

The enemy wants to make sure you don’t do what your heart is calling you to do. He wants you to drag you down, so you don’t have the desire to try anything else. He wants to keep you from God's purpose. He wants to keep you from feeling God's presence and the awe of connecting to the beauty of life. The enemy wants you to protect yourself from all possibilities of hurt and pain by becoming cold and avoiding opening your heart and feeling the warmth of compassion toward other souls.

God wants you to believe in your ability to do what your heart is calling you to do. He may be calling you to stop, rest and listen. This may be a time of preparation. He may be calling you to act, have faith and to try. This may be a time of doing. He may be calling you to stretch beyond your comfort zone and what feels safe. This may be a time to be courageous and gentle with yourself. Spend time with the Father and listen.  Spend time doing things that touch your soul. Go and appreciate nature, listen to music, connect with others, laugh, and extend love. Give yourself those moments where you can't deny the magnificence of being alive.

Prayer

Father God,

Thank You Father for calling me to find compassion for myself and for others. Thank You for reminding me to spend time recognizing all that is good and beautiful. Forgive me for not always recognizing the magnificence of life. Forgive me for questioning that You have a purpose. May I remember the times when I am dragging, to find solitude, silence, and rest in Your presence. May I always seek and recognize moments of awe.

Amen
