Who is the enemy? What is the enemy? It could be what ever gets in the way of you loving yourself and being you. It is your ego, your past trauma, your mindset that tells you this is how things have always been so don’t change a thing. If you do change anything you will upset others.
The enemy is your old self that keeps calling you back to old habits. It is the dark mood that pulls you down and tells you don’t bother to try. It is a heaviness. It is the force that works against you and causes you to question every move you make. It sits within unhappiness and drives towards despair. It is the relentless voice that tells you to quit, give up, you are never going to make it.
It is the banter in your head that argues against your significance, your purpose. It is the questioning feeling that you’re not enough. It is the voice that tells you that you are different in a bad way. You will never fit in. You must do more and be more to be liked, to be successful, and to be heard. It causes you to be confused about who the victim is and who the abuser resulting in you taking responsibility for what is not yours. It forms a web of lies and assumptions that tangle you in half-truths and making it hard to break away. If you try, it sends others to question your sanity and even your goodness.
Your enemy is the master at mind games, illusions, and negativity. But that is all it has. Once you see the pattern, recognize who is at play and call it what it is, it’s power is minimized. It is a force to be recognized, understood but not feared. For you have God as your protector, your guide, and partner in silencing the enemy.
The only power it has is your belief. Call its bluff, don’t believe the lies. Question your thoughts. Seek the truth in God and lean on Him. When you begin to question Him know that questioning is your enemy trying to get you off track. Stay the course with God and remind yourself all is well; you are surrounded by light!
Prayer
Father God,
Thank you for helping me to see the truth. Thank you for helping me to stay the course. Forgive me for being pulled back to old habits. Forgive me for listening to the banter in my head that causes me to question myself. Help me to recognize what is enemy talk. May I always trust in you and turn to you in times of struggle.
Amen
