Isiah 43:18-19
18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Letting go happens in stages
It is a healing
It is a growth journey
It is a love journey
A love for yourself
A love for God
A love for what you are releasing
It is trusting in an unknown plan
A plan orchestrated by God
A plan to move you closer to wholeness
It is stepping into the unfamiliar
Not looking back
Not questioning the past
Staying in the present
Welcoming what is to come
Letting go isn’t meant to be easy
You held onto an event, something or someone for a time
It wasn’t a mistake
It all had purpose
You had happy moments and grew
You had struggles and grew
You stagnated and still grew
That moment, no matter how short or long
Was a lesson to help you become all
That you are meant to be
Appreciate the lesson
Be grateful for the time
See it as a blessing
Don’t beat yourself up for
What you did
Or didn’t do
It was meant to be the way it was
You are who you are today
Because of who you were
And what you experienced yesterday
Step into letting go
Embrace what can be
Bless what was
Every move you make
Is a movement in letting go
Choose to reinforce the thought
It is alright to let go
It is alright to move on
You look to the past for comfort
Comfort is found in the familiar
Find that comfort in God
He is your familiarity
He is your comfort
He is your constant
Not the past
Not the future
But God, God in the now
Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for Your constant comfort. Thank you for helping me let go in stages. You have a plan for me. You know what is best. Forgive me for looking for familiarity and comfort in the past. Forgive me for holding on to what You have claimed to be finished. You are with me always. You provide strength. You provide consistency. Help me to see the past as a blessing, be thankful for it and let it go. Help me to embrace all you have planned without questions. I welcome whatever stage is next. I welcome You in the now.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
