Colossians 2:6-7
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
When forced with what seems overwhelming and impossible look for what is possible. What can you do? What can you accomplish? Don’t focus on what is out of your control. Focus on what you are in control of. Acknowledge God has control over everything.
It is not reasonable to believe you can control everything. Are you believing you are responsible if people in your family are happy and if people at work are content? You need to take reasonable responsibility and not total responsibility for how everything turns out. Be responsible for you. Show up as you and do your part and let go of all else. You are worrying about things you have no control over. You are worrying about other people’s happiness and success. All you can do is your part.
God gave you your own journey. He never asked you to take on someone else’s journey too. Only God can understand someone else’s journey. You step in and try to prevent disappointment and failure on another’s journey without understanding. You may be preventing something that is exactly what that person needs to drive them to their destiny and to success. God has a plan for victory for them and for you. Let God do His work and focus on the victory.
The enemy wants you to believe failure is not an option. You must ensure you don’t fail and no one around you fails. He wants you to believe your value is directly tied to how well everyone else does. If you can’t make it happen, you are just not good enough. The enemy would like nothing more for you to believe you are responsible for everyone else’s happiness. You are responsible for their anger and discontent. He knows if he can get you focused on other’s you don’t to take care of yourself. You get so consumed with the fear of failing you don’t move forward.
Failure must be an option. It is necessary for growth. You are not perfect and are not expected to be perfect. Practice letting go and giving others to God. Practice not taking full responsibility for someone else’s sadness, failure to show up in life, their disappointment, boredom or negativity. Why would you think you could change them with a simple conversation when God hasn’t? Focus on what is possible. There is always something possible. God created you to find the possible. You see possible when you stay rooted in God, have faith and practice thankfulness. It is possible for other people to take care of themselves.
Prayer
Father God,
Thank you for showing me what is possible. Thank you for having control over everything and for Your plans of victory. Forgive me for trying to be You and taking responsibility for everything and everyone around me. Forgive me for not letting go. Help me to see what is possible and focus on You. May I be reasonable in what I take responsibility for. There is so much that isn't mine to worry about. Help me to understand what I was built for and to stay in my lane. You are all powerful. May I always be thankful for all You do and for what is.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
