Prayer

Hold On To Me

1 John 5:14:

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

Prayer is simple as a whisper of His name, Jesus. It is a beautiful call to the heavens. It is a reach out to the Beloved One in desperation, in praise and surrender. All you have, all you are is put at His feet. Prayer is communion between you and your Father. It is an answer to a longing within you. It is stepping toward Him to answer His call. Prayer is your armor for battle. Through prayer He raises you up. Through prayer you become more. You become all God intended you to be.

You are in an intimate relationship with God. How do you interact with Him? When you pray don’t limit yourself. Keep the conversation open throughout the day. Start your mornings with Him and end reviewing your day with Him. Turn to Him with questions and concerns. As you communicate with Him more you will become more aware of His presence. You will find yourself turning to Him to share everything and ask for guidance.

Don’t hold back. Run to Him. Hold on to Him. Tell the Father your needs. So, He can provide those needs for you. “Father I need reassurance. I need to be comforted. I need help forgiving someone. I need help changing my way of thinking in this situation. I just need to hand this over to you. I need rest.” Tell Him your expectations and dreams. If these are not part of His plan, He can help you to gain understanding and acceptance, so you can move on. If He is in agreement with you He is able to move you forward, step by step He will guide you, open doors and put you in the path of people who can help make things happen.

The enemy wants you to hold back. He wants you to hide from the Father. He does not want you to understand the power of prayer and that it isn’t just a morning or Sunday thing. It is an all-day kind of thing. He doesn’t want you to pray for those you are having difficulty with. He wants you to complain about them. Prayer puts up walls between you and the enemy and opens doors between you and your Father. Prayer refines your reaction time and awareness time. The enemy attacks and you see it and armor up. You armor up by opening your heart and sharing with God. You armor up by turning to God first. You do the very thing the enemy doesn’t want you to do. The enemy wants you to close-up, don’t share, assume, retreat, get angry, and attack. Your Father calls you to look up, love and trust in Him.

God’s grace is enough! He is your life breath. He is tangled up with you. You are who you are because of Him. You may not always feel His presence or hear Him. When you feel you just can’t find Him or connect with Him, know He is there. He has built a world filled with reminders of Him that are meant to capture your heart. Jesus is in the wind. He is in the waves. He is in the birds singing. See Him while you walk in nature. Feel Him while you sing a song. Find Him in His word.

Your Father calls you to look up, love and trust in Him. Cry to Him. Sing His praises. Empty yourself. Look up! He is everywhere. He is not silent, listen. He is not invisible, see. Listen and see differently than you are used to.

Prayer

Father God,

Hold on to me. Hold on to my friends and family. I turn to You in prayer. I turn to You in praise for all You are and all You do. Thank you for being with me every day, all day. Thank you for being in communication with me in every moment. Forgive me for times I don’t turn to you first and I run to complain. Forgive me for any judgmental thinking that gets in the way of our relationship, gets in the way of seeing that You are my everything. Just the whisper of Your name puts Your armies to work. Calling out to You moves mountains. May I turn to you first, always. May I lean into You, trust You, rely on You! Hold on to me. Build me up from the inside out. Bring me peace. You, Father God, are my everything!

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
