Resist

Goodness Of God

Corinthians 1:10-13

13 No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.

It isn’t always easy to actively resist what isn’t good for you. You may have developed bad habits that are hindering peace and love in your life. It may be the way you react to situations, negative thoughts passing through your head, or compulsions to eat and shop. Partner with God to have the strength to resist. Turn to Him in order to help break the cycle.

God, creator of this all, wants you to enjoy His creation. He wants you to stop questioning yourself, questioning if you are worthy of anything good and most all if you are enough. God built you to be enough. You are enough for Him and that is really all that matters. God wants you to not only see the many blessings He has given you but believe there are so many more to come. He has always been good to you. He has always been faithful. He has always come through. Each day it starts with Him turning the light on for you. You expect that. You don’t question if the sun will rise each morning. You depend on it being there. Depend on God like you do the rising sun. He is the one who put it in motion.

Start today with resisting one thought. Start with replacing that one thought with God’s word and a thought of thankfulness. Proclaim “I am strong,” instead of “I am so tired.” Proclaim, “There is always a way, God’s way,” instead of “This can’t be done.” Proclaim “I am enough,” instead of “I am not good enough.” Don’t just see patterns of bad behavior as this is just who you are and that you can’t change these things. You are so much more. You are so powerful. You have God on your side guiding you, giving you strength, giving you permission to not worry and to give those worries to Him. He is promising you He will be there and come through for you. He is telling you His plans for you are good.

The enemy is constantly working to get in your head. He wants you to believe you can’t change your way of thinking. He doesn’t want you to build a God mindset. The stronger your God mindset becomes the further out of reach you are to the enemy. His goal is to keep you close. He wants you to believe you are not strong. He doesn’t want you believing and resting in the powerful knowledge that your strength comes from the Lord.

Push back the enemy by acknowledging God’s goodness and that He has and always will be faithful to you. Diminish his power by building a strong God mindset one thought at a time. Take ownership of your behavior and know God is pulling you toward something good. He is working with you to weed out negative thoughts and wake you up, so you can fully enjoy life. It may be uncomfortable, but you have to journey through the discomfort to get to the other side.

Prayer

Father God,

Thank You for pulling me through the discomfort. Thank You for always be faithful to me and always being good. My strength comes from oYu. You are building a strong God mindset in me. Forgive me for the times I believe I am not strong enough. Forgive me for the times I don’t question my negative thoughts and instead accept them as truth. You built me as enough. It is all there inside of me. Help me to be aware of negative thinking and compulsive behavior. Help me to not give up, but to journey through the discomfort. At times my desire is to not face the discomfort but avoid and distract myself. Wake me up. Shake things up. Help me to see new ways of doing things and seeing things. Through it all may I rely on Your strength and stay ever so close to You.

In Jesus' name,

Amen
