Seasons

Acts 1:7

He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority;

What does your relationship with God look like? Are you all in? Or are you all questioning? Are you accepting of His way and authority? Or are you unsure? Are you with Him when things go well, but avoid Him when things are not what you expected or wanted? Do you wonder about God’s timing? Or are you able to have patience and trust His timing is always perfect?

The more time you spend with God, the better view and understanding you will have of your relationship with Him and the cycles in your life, seasons. God works in seasons. Like His work in the seasons of earth, fall, winter, spring and summer, He is always working to grow new in you and let what is old and not needed anymore die out. Unfortunately, with your seasons there is no set time. You may find yourself in fall, being prepped and guided for some time. God wants you to be prepared for winter. This is a season that at first may look beautiful but as it goes on you may struggle. It takes everything in you to endure. At times you may feel like you are in isolation and life is just too hard. This is the time when His best work is done. Spring comes, and you rise. You recognize growth in yourself. You find God has answered some prayers. With summer you put these new things into practice as God prepares you for fall and the cycle of another season of growth.

Accept where you are at. Don’t view it as a setback. It is just a moment, a moment in your season of growth. Do what you can in this season. This season may be preparing you for something in the next season. This season’s purpose may be just to rest, it may be a time to just enjoy or to dig in and do some hard work. It may be a time that God is working on you. It may be a time He is working on something in another area of your life that He doesn’t need you distracted with. Your focus on that area may have been preventing God from doing some really good work. So, to put your focus somewhere else He allowed for this season. Maybe it is a season of a head cold, back pain, appliances breaking in your house, a child struggling, or difficulties at work. Whatever it is, it is just a season. God doesn’t purposely bring dismay into your life. But, He uses what is there to work in your life. You can’t see the full picture of where God is taking you. You can’t know the reasons for things that happen on your journey. It is not for you to know these things. It is the Father’s business. If it is your business to know He will make sure you understand.

Sometimes a season can be very painful. But a season will never be more than you can bare. You may feel broken. But you are not broken, just bent. As you walk through these seasons walk with God. Don’t abandon Him. Your relationship with God will only grow by staying with Him through the cycles. Communicate with Him. Open your heart to Him and let Him know the difficulties and the joys of each season. Stop and acknowledge where you are in your relationship with God. Make a conscious effort to be all in, no matter what.

Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank you guiding me through my seasons. Thank you for providing me with moments of rest and moments of simple joy. You have a plan and purpose for my life. The seasons you cycle me through help that plan unfold. Forgive me for the times I question You and demand to understand why. Forgive me for when I turn away from you in the rough seasons. That is the time I really need to lean in. I want an all-in relationship with you. As I cycle through the seasons help me to remember to let go, stick with You, and allow You to do Your work. Help me to leave Your business Your business. Open my heart to You. You have done so much wonderful work with me. May I always remember, I may not see where we are going, but I can certainly look back and see how far You have brought me. You've got this!

In Jesus name,

Amen
