Self-Revolution

Call Upon the Lord

Matthew 7:7-8

7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

God has started a movement in you. It is a self-revolution. Do not turn back. There are obstacles along the way. You can overcome them. There are moments that are tougher to deal with than other moments. You’ve got this. Do not let doubt stop you from proceeding. Do not let set backs detour you. Push forward knowing that with every step, even if it is a tiny one, you get stronger. You are in a battle. You are fighting to win yourself. You may see things you don’t want to see about yourself. This is part of the growth. Trust God. He gently shows you what you need to see when you are ready. He prepares you first. He knows how much you can handle. If God is handing you something to deal with then He believes it is your time to handle it. God believes in you. Believe in you. Choose you!

Negative thoughts, self-doubt, and fear have had a stronghold on you. This is not your destined state. God is working to expose your destined state. He wants you to fall in love with you. He adores you. The enemy is working to prevent you, not only from getting to the destined state, but moving at all towards it. He is aware that with each move you make toward God he loses power.

Recognize the enemy at work. Know who you are in battle with. Call it what it is, an attack. The enemy uses people to do his dirty work. He uses people close to you. He is always looking for a way in. Your foundation with God must be strong. Call upon the Holy Spirit for protection, guidance and peace. With each proclamation of praise and thanksgiving you grow stronger. You set your feet firmly on God’s rock. With each avoidance of hate you grow more loving. With each denial of the enemy’s lies you see the truth. You awake to God’s vision. Do not forget you are in battle. The enemy wants you to forget that. You seek an end, but this is a lifelong battle. God has already won. You already have a home with Him. But you must remember that every day. You must keep your heart open to that truth. Do not close up your heart when you are disappointed and turn away from God. Do not give up. Turn to God always. Laugh in the face of the enemy. Don’t let him hide behind co-workers, family members, acquaintances, or mean people. Call him out. Recognize him and his work. He is a con artist. He is a liar. Take none of this personal. He uses you to get to the Lord. He is trying to pull you from God. Shift. Pivot. Do whatever you need to do to keep your eyes on God.

Do not go head to head with the enemy. He wants you to engage with him. He wants to distract you from your Father. He wants you to believe you hold the power. You engage by taking it personal and not turning it over to God. You engage by lashing out and not sharing how you feel. You engage by shutting down and not using your voice and being truthful. You engage by not turning to God, instead you turn to gossip and horrible self-talk. You gossip about yourself. You gossip about others. You put yourself down. You engage by not questioning the lies the enemy tells you.

All these things you engage in feel at bit good and soothing for the moment. But they just prolong the cycle. They keep you asleep. You need to wake up. You are breaking long standing, and deeply ingrained habits, one at a time. This takes hard work, patience and time. It takes practice to not put yourself down, feel sorry for yourself, and feel like you are not enough. But each time you choose praise over self-pity, gratefulness over feeling sorry for yourself, and choose you are enough over not being enough, you grow stronger. Each time you choose not to believe the lies, you embrace the truth and it becomes a part of you. It is work. It starts with not agreeing with anything the enemy says. When the he whispers a lie, shout I disagree. God disagrees! Agree with God. Agree with Him about who you are. Agree with Him about what He asks you to do. Most of all agree with Him that you can handle anything with His strength.

You are part of God’s movement, a self-revolution.

Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank you for starting a movement in me that will help me fight for me. I am in a struggle. It is hard to keep my head up and focused on You. Forgive me for agreeing with lies and not seeing Your truth. Forgive me for getting weighed down and unmotivated. Help me to revolt against self-doubt, self-pity and the belief that I am not enough. Help me to revolt against guilt. I give you my regrets. May I remain vulnerable when I am with You. May I not hide anything from You, including my struggles. This is a difficult part of the journey. Please send reassurance.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
