Slow Down

A Future Not My Own

1 John 2:17

And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Are your days too busy for God? Do you have a list of things that are so important to do you fail to get time with Him? Real time not unfocused time. Time sitting in His presence, sharing yourself, opening your heart and asking God to guide you. When you have no time for God it causes uneasiness. Your soul needs that time with Him. Without it your soul groans, it aches. Slow down. Sit in God’s presence. Nothing is more important than Him. Commit to giving Him more than just a small piece of you each day.

Without God you will find it hard to hold your ground. You will find it hard to hold yourself accountable. God wants to be part of your day. Don’t let a day go by without putting time in to build your relationship with Him. To do this you have to prioritize. Make Him the number one priority. He is priority one over events and people. He is also a priority over worry, fear and judgment. Choose God instead of worry. Turn to God and give Him your fears. Tell God how your feel instead of judging and making assumptions. Don’t make excuses that you don’t have time and are just too busy. God expands time.

The enemy wants you to get so busy you lose track of time and track of the day. He wants you to think your job, taking care of your kids, being there for someone else, and cleaning the house are all more important than quiet time with God. He wants you to be so busy that you forget to turn to God for everything. He wants you to turn to anger instead. If you aren’t focused on God, you believe you are in control. You try to control everything and everyone around you. What a mess that makes. The enemy wants your job, problems, and parenting to consume you. He wants you to believe your job can’t function without you, your children won’t survive if you are not readily available for them and your problems need lots of attention and focus. Do your best at your job but don’t overdo it. Reality is you are replaceable at work. Everyone is. But you are so important to God that nothing and no one can replace you in His heart. Your children will survive. They are strong. Be the best parent without sacrificing your sanity. The less focus you give your problems the better. Give your problems to God and let Him work on them. Nothing is too big for God.

Cling to God. God wants you to always turn to Him. Give problems, fears, and worries to Him. Once you give it to Him let Him keep it. Don’t come back and try to take it back into your hands. Trust God. It takes practice putting God first in your life. It takes discipline putting all in God’s hands and it takes determination to leave it in His hands.

Be persistent in searching for God and finding contentment with God. You are fully responsible for protecting your peace. Take responsibility and do not blame anyone else. Learn to say no. Learn to set limits and boundaries. You can’t do this alone. God will guide you. He will guide you past the worry and fear of making a wrong decision. He will guide you past taking responsibility for other people and situations you have no business taking responsibility for. He will continually guide you back to Him. Start everyday with Him. Start your day getting your footing and setting your priorities. This day is a gift. Greet the day with thankfulness. As the day unfolds trust that you have the strength and confidence to face what ever comes your way. Believe that God is with you in every moment of the day. Do not neglect to see Him, seek Him and embrace His presences.

Slow down. Seek God. Know all is well!

Prayer

Father God,

Thank you for being present in every moment of my day. Thank you for slowing me down and giving me perspective. Thank you for reminding me that I need to enjoy each day. Forgive me when I ignore You and ignore the cry of my spirit to be with You. Forgive me for getting so wrapped up in problems that I fail to see that You are always the solution. You supply me with every breath. May I continue to open my heart to You. Help me to always put you first. Help me to have a balanced life. When the day gets so busy that I am flustered, can’t think, and have not had time to enjoy the people in my life, please give me perspective and help me readjust and slow down.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
