Ephesians 3:16-18
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,
When life doesn’t come out the way you expected you can quit or get a new perspective. You can cling on to old memories or put one foot in front of the other and move on. All easier said than done, but all doable. It may be difficult to let go but it is necessary. Unexpectedly life changed on you and now you need to change how you view life. You were vested in something that didn’t work out. Maybe it was a job, a hobby, a dream, a marriage or a relationship. You want to hold on to the old like it will return. But as you hold on to it, life around you keeps going. The more you grasp the more you remain stuck.
When God decides to bless you, it is unexpected. It may not look like what is a blessing. It may look far from that. But know God knows best and He knows what He is doing. You are clinging to old habits, old memories, and viewing your life through the lens of disappointment. Adopt a new vision. Try out looking at your life through the lens of opportunity. What can you do different now. Look at what blessings have come your way due to your life change. Your unexpected life change may just be God answering a prayer that you forgot about.
Lord help me with my pride and stubbornness.
Lord help me to enjoy life and my children.
Lord help me to be closer to you.
Lord bring me peace.
Lord help me get out of debt.
Lord help me enjoy my job.
God works in ways that are unknown to you. Your life change may not look like the answer to any of your prayers, but it could be what is on the way to the answer. You just need to hold tight and go through it to get to God’s intended destination.
The enemy wants to keep you stuck where you are at. He wants you to constantly revisit the past and to believe it was wonderful and perfect. The more you believe those thoughts the less likely you will be able to let go. You are a creature of habit. New is scary and change is uncomfortable. The enemy keeps tempting you to go back, take a look, and blame yourself. He wants you to believe you can fix the past. He wants you to believe that God isn’t helping so you need to step in and take over. The enemy loves to put your mind in battle with blame and guilt. The enemy uses blame and guilt to get a lot of work done. He gets you to complain about not being happy, blame God and everyone around you for you’re misery, and feel guilty when you are happy. That leaves to a lot of disturbance in your mind.
Stop looking back to fix a past you have no control over. Stop blaming yourself. Life did a pivot and planted you somewhere else. Embrace the unexpected. Welcome the unexpected. When you leave all in God’s hands you will find life works out. You may not have received what you expected but be sure God has plans for you will make up for your disappointment. You will flourish. You will survive. You will heal. Some days you will want to revisit the past for the familiarity and comfort of it, like it is a warm blanket, and other days you will jump out of bed with excitement to see what the new day holds. Be alright with whatever day you are in. It takes time to heal. It takes time to move on. But make sure you are moving on!
Instead of looking at your situation as a crisis consider yourself unexpectedly blessed. You have been unexpectedly blessed by God the Father, who adores you.
You are blessed. You are loved. All will work out!
Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for unexpected blessings. Thank You for fighting for my peace. You see the disruption in my life and use it to bring good. Thank You for answered prayers even when I have forgotten what I have asked for. Forgive me for questioning how You choose to answer these prayers and call me to grow. Forgive me for my doubt. Nothing can keep You from loving me. Healing is in Your hands. Help me to move forward, let go, embrace your plan and trust it is a good one. Help me to accept your unexpected blessings. My past, present and future are in your hands. Your unfailing love is all I need.
