Luke 2:19
19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
Sometimes you are going through life, all is clicking along smoothly, and God steps in with a change of your plans. He steps in and asks you to make a new road, change something, or do something different. You don’t know how it will unfold. On top of that He asks you to wait, have patience. You can get restless, hopeless and unsure in the waiting. You want an answer from God but all you hear is be still and wait. This is your answer. Be still and wait has purpose. It is a time of molding, pruning, growth and a time to fall in love with you.
How you wait is just as important. Are you complaining during this time? Are you questioning God? Are you comparing your life to others? Or are you waiting with joyful expectancy in your heart? Are you waiting with confidence in your Father? It is difficult to wait to see God’s plan unfold. It is difficult to wait and to see what He has placed on your heart mature and finally occur. This is His plan. Specially designed for you. Put together with loving kindness for His child. It may feel like you are the only one that has been asked to wait. You may think your waiting time is far longer than what others have had to endure. But many have waited to see if God could make the impossible happen and how.
The enemy wants you to believe God is playing with you. There is no end in sight. He wants you to question God’s timing. As you get stronger, more patient, and see yourself more as God sees you, the enemy finds new ways to attack your patience and your growing confidence. He knows what you are insecure about and who you are insecure with. He will use both to stir up impatience in you, chip away at your confidence in God and make you think you need immediate relief. The enemy tries to pin you down until you give up on yourself and most of all on God.
God knows you. He knows what He is doing. In the waiting God offers you relief with the simple knowledge of His presence. God is constantly reaching toward you. He offers sanity in moments of insane thoughts. He pulls you toward calmness. It may seem as if this takes a while to occur, but the timing is all tied to your awareness. The more you practice awareness of God the faster calmness comes. Focus and reflect on your Father and know He has purpose for this time.
Waiting prepares you for the beauty that is to come. Waiting helps you to appreciate not only the finality, but the result. God is working within you. You are becoming what you need to be in order to accept all He has promised you. There is beauty in the waiting and in the journey of it all. You find hope. You develop patience. You make peace with discomfort there. You face fear. Mary waited. She had faith in an unknown future. She would give birth to a child that would impact the world. She didn’t know how. She didn’t know when the impact would occur. She only knew she was part of God’s unfolding plan.
You, like Mary, are waiting for God to finish His planned work. Wait for Him. Wait in anticipation of good things to come. Wait when all looks messy and there couldn’t possibly be an end in sight. Wait and serve Him. Wait pondering all in your heart.
Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for being a relief in times of waiting. The awareness of Your presence brings soothing. It is the remedy for haste. Forgive me for my impatience. Forgive me for getting restless and complaining during the wait time. You know what is best for me. You know me from the inside out. Simply help me to wait and know good work is being done in the waiting. Help me to reflect and focus on you. May I put my cares in you, open my heart and soul to you, and always hear Your gentle guidance. When I am not seeing an alleluia, may I remember You are gently singing unforeseen blessings.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
