Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
Are you weary? Has this past year worn on you? You are not alone. Acknowledge the weary, understand it but do not embrace it and stay in a weary state.
Weary pulls you down. It takes you so far down that finding the motivation to pull yourself up is extremely difficult. It moves in slowly and prevents you from self-care. Little by little you stop taking care of yourself physically and emotionally. You take a day off from morning prayer. You skip going for your walk. You binge watch TV and find comfort on your sofa. You allow yourself to do what you feel like doing instead of what needs to be done. Little by little your weary state welcomes a state of not trying.
The enemy wants you to believe nothing you do will work to bring you up. Any effort you make to move forward is a waste of time. He is hoping you do not try; you stop fighting and instead claim your spot over and over on the couch, turn on the TV, shop, eat and give up. The enemy wants you to do what is easy. The longer he can keep you in a state of weary the longer he can keep you from your Father. Then he can reinforce thoughts of worthlessness and the belief that God does not care about you. The enemy works hard to drain your patience. The less patience you have with yourself and God the better.
Pulling out of a weary state takes conscious effort and recognizing the state you are in. You are not meant to live day to day feeling weary. You are meant to thrive, create, and celebrate. God wants what is best for you. He wants you to know you are worthy of all the good and love He has put in your life and continues to send your way. His plan is always the best plan to go with. Bank on your Father. Concentrate on all He has provided and not on what you are still waiting on. Do not turn your back on Him because you do not have the patience to wait.
Staying connected to your Father is a must. Pray for patience. Pray for motivation. Pray for understanding and being at peace without being able to understand what is not yours to understand. Recognize when weary sets in and spend extra time with God. This time will renew you and remind you of God’s love for you.
Prayer
Father God,
I have been weary. I have stopped trying and have been coasting from day to day. Forgive me for hitting pause and not moving forward. Forgive me for not spending time with you and instead accepting and living in a state of weary. Help me to find my way out. Help me to lean on you for inspiration. You are the cure for weary. You are the provider of peace. I have been leaning away from you. Help me to rest in Your presence and understand that You hold it all.
Amen
I AM THEY-Faithful God
